Jesus calls on each of us to use our time, talent and treasure to help those less fortunate than us. We are called to feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, clothe the naked, shelter the homeless, visit the sick, visit the imprisoned, and bury the dead.
We offer many opportunities to use your gifts to help others. When you serve others, you are pleasing God, you help make someone’s life better, and you will feel great knowing that you helped!
If you would like to learn more about the service opportunities listed on this page or you have a service opportunity of your own you would like to invite others to join, contact the Parish Office: Phone: 563-588-1433
Parishioners from St. Joseph the Worker prepare, deliver, and serve the Wednesday evening meal at St. Patrick parish four times each year. A group of parishioners gather to purchase and deliver the main dish to the site. Others bring salads, desserts and serve the meal. There is a need for parishioners to help with the transportation of the meal. This service provides between 75 – 100 people with a hot meal each Wednesday night.
Our parish serves the noon meal at the Dubuque Rescue Mission on four Sundays each year. Rick and Jenny Ginsterblum are our leaders in this ministry to homeless men in the Dubuque community. They prepare the main dish for each of these events and other parishioners donate desserts and salads.
The parish can help parishioners with electrical, heat and water bills. The parish also helps with gas and food scrip cards as needed. If you would like to contribute to this assistance program, please make checks out to “St. Joseph the Worker Social Justice” and turn them in to the Parish Office.
Members extend Christ’s love and concern to individuals and families who need emergency assistance, food, clothing, rent, utility subsidies and spiritual support.
