The Weekend of June 15-16
by Adam Mumm
This Weekend at SJTW
Father Paul joins us for the celebration of the Most Holy Trinity!
In the Readings
First Reading Proverbs 8:22-31
In the First Reading, the wisdom of God speaks, saying it has existed before the earth. The wisdom of God was there when God created the heavens and earth. It was His delight and it found delight in the human race.
Second Reading Romans 5:1-5
In the Second Reading, Paul writes that we have peace with God through Jesus. By our faith in Jesus, we have gained access to the grace of God and the hope of His glory. We even can be proud of our afflictions because they are an opportunity for endurance and hope. The love of God has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit.
Gospel John 16:12-15
In the Gospel, Jesus tells His disciples “I have much more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now. But when He comes, the Spirit of truth, He will guide you to all truth. He will not speak on His own, but He will speak what He hears, and will declare to you the things that are coming. He will glorify Me, because He will take from what is Mine and declare it to you. Everything that the Father has is Mine.”
Our 3rd Sunday Social Justice Collection will be for the Dubuque Rescue Mission. For 87 years, the Dubuque Rescue Mission has served the needs our brothers and sisters who are poor offering overnight shelter for 45 men; providing over 230 meals a day to those seeking food and fellowship and providing clothing and other material goods to those with no means to pay.
Sunday is Father’s Day! We will have a special recognition for all fathers at all Masses.
60th Wedding Anniversary
At the 5:00 Mass, we will celebrate a happy couple’s 60th anniversary!
There will be Children’s Liturgy of the Word at the 8:30 and 11:00 Masses. All kids between the ages of 5-10 and their guardians are invited to Martin Hall before the First Reading.
