The Weekend of December 29-30

This Weekend at SJTW

Father Tom joins us as we celebrate the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph.

In the Readings

First Reading 1 Samuel 1:20-22, 24-28

Hannah asks the Lord for a son and gives birth to Samuel. Hannah promises that once Samuel is older she will offer him to the Lord. She fulfills this promise and leaves Samuel at the temple saying “as long as he lives, he shall be dedicated to the Lord.”

Second Reading 1 John 3:1-2, 21-24

John tells us that the Father loves us so much that we can be called children of God. We can have confidence that God provides for us when we keep His commandments. Mainly, we should believe in the name of Jesus, the Son of God, and we should love one another as God has commanded us.

Gospel Luke 2:41-52

When Jesus was twelve, He and His parents went to Jerusalem for the feast of Passover. Mary and Joseph set off to return to Nazareth, but they didn’t realize Jesus wasn’t with them. They went back to Jerusalem to look for Him. After three days of searching, they found Jesus in the temple listening to the teachers and asking them questions. Mary asked why he didn’t go with them and told Him they had been worried. Jesus in turn asked “Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?”

At Mass

Good Bye, Christian!

This Sunday’s 11:00 Mass is the last time Christian Stillings, our Contemporary Worship Leader, will join us. After the 11:00 Mass, there will be a reception in the school. Join us as we thank Christian for his service to our parish and wish him the best as moves on to his next chapter!
