Prayers of the Faithful

  • For our church and national leaders, that as they shepherd their people they always align themselves with the needs of the poor and the vulnerable, let us pray to the Lord. Lord, hear our prayer.
  • For law enforcement officials and health care workers throughout the world, that be kept safe as they serve and care for us, let us pray to the Lord. Lord, hear our prayer.
  • For those who lack life’s basic needs, that we who have an abundance willingly share with them, let us pray to the Lord. Lord, hear our prayer.
  • For those who suffer from the pandemic, those who are confined with no one to visit them, and those who are strangers and immigrants in our midst, that we offer them our care and welcome, let us pray to the Lord. Lord, hear our prayer.
  • For all who are gathered around the Table of the Lord, both here and at home, that we go forth to be Christ’s hands and feet in the world, let us pray to the Lord. Lord, hear our prayer.
  • For Wayne Reicher, Melvin & MaDonna Flynn, Nicole Nees, those we honor this month, and all who have died, that the King will say to them “come you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you.” Let us pray to the Lord. Lord, hear our prayer.

Spiritual Communion Prayer

My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

A Prayer for During the Pandemic

Holy Virgin of Guadalupe,
Queen of the Angels and Mother of the Americas.
We turn to you today as your beloved children.
We ask you to intercede for us with your Son,
as you did at the wedding in Cana.

Pray for us, loving Mother,
and gain for our nation and world,
and for all our families and loved ones,
the protection of your holy angels,
that we may be spared the worst of this illness.

For those already afflicted,
we ask you to obtain the grace of healing and deliverance.
Hear the cries of those who are vulnerable and fearful,
wipe away their tears and help them to trust.

In this time of trial and testing,
teach all of us in the Church to love one another and to be patient and kind.
Help us to bring the peace of Jesus to our land and to our hearts.

We come to you with confidence,
knowing that you truly are our compassionate mother,
health of the sick and cause of our joy.

Shelter us under the mantle of your protection,
keep us in the embrace of your arms,
help us always to know the love of your Son, Jesus. Amen.
