SJTW COVID-19 Measures
As the coronavirus pandemic continues to develop, St. Joseph the Worker is taking the following steps in accord with the Archdiocese of Dubuque for the safety of our parishioners and to slow the spread of germs.
All public celebrations of Mass are canceled until further notice. All Catholics in the Archdiocese of Dubuque are dispensed from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass. In the meantime, we will share blog posts on our website and Facebook each week to help you reflect on the readings and to guide your prayerlife. The archbishop will livestream Mass each Sunday at 9:00am. Learn more here. Our pastors will offer Mass in private. Let us know if you have an intention you would like them to pray for when they do this.
Church Open for Private Prayer
The main door to the church will be unlocked until 7:30pm each day for private prayer. If you go into the church, please practice social distancing and maintain a distance of six feet from your neighbor. There will be materials available for prayer including the Stations of the Cross. If you use any of these materials, please take them with you to prevent the spread of germs. According to CDC guidelines, no more than 10 people may be in the church at the same time.
Parish Events Canceled
All parish events of more than 10 people are canceled until further notice. This includes:
- Lenten Buffets
- Voices on the Journey
- Stations of the Cross
- Faith Formation (RE)
- Scripture Study
- All Committee Meetings (even committees with less than 10 members)
Call the Parish Office at 563-588-1433 to schedule an appointment.
We ask everyone to remain behind the screen in the confessional and to practice social distancing.
If you already have a baptism or wedding scheduled, we will still celebrate with you, but we must limit the number of those attending to 10 people or less. If you would like to reschedule, call the Parish Office at 563-588-1433. Likewise, if you would like to schedule a funeral, we must once again ask that you limit the number of those attending to 10 people or less. Alternatively, you could inter the body first and then schedule a service for later when the restrictions are lifted.
Faith Formation (RE)
Ann and Lizz will have online resources available for Faith Formation families to use at home to help kids and youth continue being formed in their faith. They will be in contact with families in the coming days.
Scrip orders are suspended until further notice. If you have an existing order, please pick it up by 4:30pm on Wednesday, Mar. 18.
We will publish our bulletin with a reduced page count for the time being. The bulletin is available online at theworker.org/bulletins. There will be a few copies in church as well. If you grab a bulletin, please take it with you.
Martin Hall & Gym Rentals
Rentals of the Gym and Martin Hall are suspended until further notice. Sorry for any inconveniences this may cause, but the safety of our parishioners and community is most important.
