Sunday, May 12, is World Day of Prayer for Vocations. Below are some prayers we can say for those hearing and/or answering the call to shepherd God’s people on Earth. You can find these prayers and other resources at

Prayer for World Day of Prayer for Vocations

Mary Most Holy,
as a young woman
living in obscurity
you nurtured with loving care
the Word of God made flesh.
Please protect and accompany
all young men and women,
especially from our parish,
who are called to a vocation to
the priesthood or religious life. Amen.

A Prayer for Vocations

God our Father, You made each of us
to use our gifts in the Body of Christ.

We ask that You inspire
young people whom You call to
the priesthood and consecrated life
to courageously follow Your will.

Send workers into Your great harvest
so that the Gospel is preached,
the poor are served with love,
the suffering are comforted,
and Your people are strengthened
by the sacraments

We ask this through
Christ our Lord,

Children’s “Prayer to Know My Vocation”

God, my Father,
You created me with a specific purpose
for my life; this is my vocation.

By following Your plan,
I will be happy on Earth,
earn the reward of Heaven,
and help others do the same.

Please help me to hear,
understand, and follow
Your call with my whole heart,
especially when it seems most difficult.

Mary, Mother of God and my Mother,
pray for me to know and accept God’s will for my life.
