Prayer with the Pope

Tomorrow (March 27), at Noon local time, Pope Francis will lead Christians around the world in a special moment of prayer asking for God’s healing and peace during this pandemic.

Pope Francis will be on the front steps of St. Peter’s Basilica. The prayer service will include Scripture readings, prayers asking for God’s help, and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.

At the end of the service, the Pope will give a special blessing to city of Rome and the whole world.

By taking part in the prayer service through the live stream and doing the following actions, you can also gain something called a plenary indulgence. Learn more about what that is here.

Here are the other things Pope Francis asks you to do in addition to joining him for the prayer service to gain the plenary indulgence (and because they are good and important things to do anyway):

  • Go to Confession as soon as it is safe to do so.
  • Receive Holy Communion as soon as it is safe to do so.
  • Pray the Our Father and the Hail Mary for the Pope’s intentions.
