Pastoral Council March Update
From the SJTW Pastoral Council
Below are some of the topics addressed at the March meeting of the Council.
Discussion on the Endowment
There was further discussion on the best uses for money from the Educational Endowment. The Finance Council will move forward with the proposal soon.
Haiti Connection Team
Steering committee is moving forward with education and parish outreach efforts to support St. Therese of the Child Jesus in Gonaives.
Deanery Meeting on Holy Family Parish Assessment
A Council member attended a town-wide meeting about the Holy Family Assessment. That meeting laid out the two tiers for parish contributions to Holy Family Catholic Schools as well Holy Family’s goal for the assessment going forward.
Pastoral Council & FFC Elections
Elections will happen later in the Spring. FFC is looking for one new member. Would like FFC representation from a Holy Family Catholic Schools parent.
Social Justice Committee Update
The committee wants to increase evangelization through education on the organizations financially supported by SJTW and growing the number of people helping with 3rd Sunday Social Justice Collections.
Liturgy Committee Update
The committee has recruited new volunteers for cleaning and maintaining linens from the church. The committee is supporting the Bereavement Ministry and is seeking to initiate a wake ministry and increase communication of when funerals are happening at SJTW.
There will be minister training later this Spring for Lectors, Commentators, Ushers and Greeters.
Buildings & Grounds Committee Update
Bids for the Martin Hall Tunnel improvements opened with an anticipated cost of approximately $75,000-$80,000. Work on the tunnel will begin the Spring. There are issues in the school building including water in the cafeteria, the playground storm sewer and an office window replacement. The committee is also addressing a leak in the rectory roof and church door jamb repairs.
FFC Update
There is a bus trip going to Madison, WI, for a Matthew Kelly “Amazing Possibilities” event on November 6. The cost is $55 per person.
Pastor’s Report
Fr. Tom gave updates on a Youth Ministry, the Amazing Parish Team and the Alpha Program.
