Meet Our New Pastor
A Note from our incoming pastor, Father Jim Goerend:
I’m excited to be coming to St. Joseph the Worker Parish and serve you, the faith-filled people of God, as your pastor. It certainly has been a very interesting last few days. Please allow me to introduce myself, my name is Fr. Jim Goerend. I was born and raised in St. Lucas, which is about 20 miles south of Decorah. Before returning to the seminary, I had several different jobs, from being the director of Boy Scout camps in Minnesota, to teaching AP U.S. History in Waukon.
I am somewhat familiar with the Dubuque area since I attended Loras College in the late 1980’s, but there sure have been a lot of changes in Dubuque since then. I’m also very familiar with Fr. Tom McDermott, he was my pastoral supervisor when I was on pastoral internship at Blessed Sacrament Parish in Waterloo.
I am humbled and honored to be your pastor, to live out the Gospel call with you, and to walk this journey of faith by your sides. Please pray for me and know that I am praying for you.
In the peace of Christ,
Fr. Jim Goerend
