Join us for our next Women's Scripture Study on the Gospel of Luke.
Beginning January 8th, we will meet in the Youth Room from 12:45 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. to open up and study the Word of God. This will be an eight-part weekly series, but you are welcome to join when you can.
St. Joseph the Worker, along with all parishes in the archdiocese, is participating in a Disciple Maker Index (DMI) survey conducted by Catholic Leadership Institute. Many of us participated in the archdiocesan survey for the global synod during January and February of 2022. The DMI survey is the next step in an archdiocesan process that will lead to new mission and vision statements, and pastoral priorities. The survey assesses our unique strengths and opportunities. We are seeking as much input as possible regarding our shared mission, vision, and pastoral priority planning efforts. The survey opens on December 5. We will publish the link in our parish communications.
Beginning on January 9th, participants of Follow Me will meet every Thursday for 8 weeks in Martin Hall from 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM to view an engaging video presentation followed by a time of lively group discussion and fellowship. The eight 30-minute videos, presented by Dr. Edward Sri, will guide you through the Gospel of John. Dr. Sri will explain how Christ’s encounters with his disciples, the Samaritan woman, the man born blind, and others, are examples of how he lovingly and persistently calls each of us to a more intimate and life-changing relationship with him. Your hosts are Dawn and Dan Brosus. The cost is $10 per person. You can Register & make the payment by clicking the Title above. You can also drop payments off at the parish office, or bring it to the first session. For more information, contact Linda Frommelt at 563-588-1433, [email protected].
This year, St. Joseph The Worker will host the conference remotely!

The Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God, is a liturgical celebration observed on January 1. The use of the word “solemnity” here is not a statement about Mary’s personality. It is a designation used for certain days within the liturgical (church-based) calendar of the Church. Solemnities are the highest rank of liturgical celebration, higher than feast days or memorials. By celebrating a solemnity dedicated to Mary’s motherhood, the Church highlights the significance of her role in the life of Christ. Though New Year’s Day may seem more like a day for football and hangovers than for Mary, there’s a beautiful spiritual significance in celebrating her during the heart of the Christmas season. Pope Paul VI, in his apostolic exhortation Marialis Cultus (1974), called the Solemnity of Mary “a fitting occasion for renewing adoration of the newborn Prince of Peace, for listening once more to the glad tidings of the angels (Luke 2:14), and for imploring from God, through the Queen of Peace, the supreme gift of peace.”
Has God given you the gift of singing or playing a musical instrument? We have the perfect place for you to use that gift! Our parish family needs you to join our music ministry at all masses. Join us in sharing God’s gift with our community.
