Inspiring the next generation and helping them grow closer to Jesus is some of the most important work of the Church. We offer programs for kids and youth of all ages to help them get to know God and to connect with others.

Child Faith Formation

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

Wednesday evening Religious Education for Grades 1-10 strives to provide classes which help children and youth to grow in faith.

CHILDREN'S LITURGY OF THE WORD

Children's Liturgy seeks to provide a quality liturgical experience for children and to proclaim scripture in a way that children will be able to understand and live.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

For one week in July, kids ages 4-10 gather to learn about Jesus and how much He loves them. The week is led by a team of volunteers including middle and high school students.

Youth Ministry

MIDDLE SCHOOL MINISTRY

We have an active middle school ministry at St. Joseph the Worker. All 6th, 7th and 8th grade students are invited to participate.

PROTECTING GOD'S CHILDREN

St. Joseph the Worker requires all catechists and employees who work with children under the age of 18 to attend a program designed to educate people about the potential warning signs of sexual predators and to help develop a plan to protect minors from sexual abuse.

EDUCATIONAL ENDOWMENT

An educational endowment fund was established at St. Joseph the Worker in the 1990's thanks to the generosity and foresight of parishioners. Funds are available for SJTW members who attend Catholic School, RE and participate in continuing education opportunities.

HOLY FAMILY CATHOLIC SCHOOLS

St. Joseph the Worker has one of the Holy Family early childhood centers on our campus. While the elementary schools are usually referred to by the name of their campuses, all Holy Family schools belong equally to the many parishes of Dubuque.

Get Involved

If you like to teach or have an interest in promoting the education of our Catholic Faith, the Faith Formation Commission (FFC) is the place for you!

This group:

  • Encourages all to engage in life-long catechesis and evangelization as part of our baptismal call
  • Encourages the education of our Catholic Faith to both our youth and adults
  • Guides the direction of our CEWs, Religious Education for our youth, Vacation Bible School, RCIA program, Baptism Preparation and Youth Ministry.
