The Weekend of July 21-22
This weekend Father Dave joins us as we celebrate the 16th Sunday in Ordinary Time.
In the Readings
First Reading Jeremiah 23:1-6
In the First Reading, we hear God warn bad shepherds not to mislead His sheep. God promises to send good shepherds to lead His people back to Him.
Second Reading Ephesians 2:13-18
In the Second Reading, Paul writes to the Ephesians that Jesus is our peace. Through Jesus, we have access in one Spirit to the Father.
Gospel Mark 6:30-34
In the Gospel, Jesus and His Apostles are about to take time to be alone and rest a while. However, many people see Him and follow. Jesus, the Good Shepherd, is moved with pity because the people were like sheep without a shepherd. He then teaches them many things.
As mentioned above, Father Dave will preside at Mass. His Homily asks us the question “Why are we here?” and reminds us that we are all loved by God, the Compassionate one.
There will also be Children’s Liturgy of the Word at the 8:30 and 11:00 Masses.
