Meet Emma

Emma Schopp Youth Minister

My name is Emma Schopp and I am St. Joseph the Worker’s new Youth Minister! I grew up in central Illinois in a Catholic home, I am the 3rd of 5 children. I have 2 younger brothers and 2 older sisters, one of which is also a youth minister here in Dubuque! I was moderately involved in the youth ministry program throughout my time in high school but it wasn’t until my senior year at Benedictine College that I had life-changing encounter with the person of Jesus Christ. In that moment of prayer I knew that for the rest of my life I would be sharing the message of love and mercy that Jesus desires to give to His children.

Directly after graduating with a degree in Psychology, I became a FOCUS missionary. I served for 4 years on 3 separate campuses across the country, one in Ohio, another in California, and last year I served at Loras college right here in Dubuque. I absolutely fell in love with this town, the community, and its people and I knew I would like to stay here for a long time.

In the past year I have been very inspired to serve the Lord in a different way as a youth minister. I am beyond excited to get to know your kids and help provide an additional environment for deepening their faith and growing in friendship with each other. Besides Jesus and ministry other note-worthy passions include, listening to Taylor Swift, fluffy puppies, cute babies, dark chocolate, and cheese curds with ranch dressing.
